Damon Evans
Damon Cecil Evans, died Monday, Aug. 24, 2009, in McAlester, after an extended illness.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Mount Olive Cemetery in Midland, Ark. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood, Ark.
Born March 13, 1921, in Shiloh, Ark., he was the son of Cecil and Rella Evans.
He was a World War II veteran, serving in the Army Air Corps as a radio operator on transport planes in Europe and Africa.
He worked in civil service many years and retired from the Army Ammunition Plant in 1983.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia (Hightower) Evans, of Kiowa; two daughters, Carmen Evans, of Oklahoma City, currently of the home, and Caren Scott and husband, Phillip, of Kiowa; one son, Marc Cecil Evans and wife, Jody, Spring, Texas.
Also, grandchildren, Amy Ince and husband, Eric, of Kiowa, Emily Clark and husband, Larry, of Sulphur, Jarod Scott, of Stillwater, and Avery and Aidan Evans, Spring, Texas; great-grandchildren, Kori and Zack Ince.
And, four sisters, Aletha Dunn, Hartford, Ark., Kate Bean, Greenwood, Ark., Viva Ames, Grand Rapids, Mich., and Geraldine Bach and husband, Bud, Chico, Calif., and numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father; mother; step-father, Elmer House, and sisters, Reba Morrison and Wanda Main.
