Mable ‘Idell’ Sartor

Mable “Idell” Sartor, 94, of Kiowa, died Friday, July 4, 2008, at a local nursing center.

The family will receive friends for visitation from 6 to 8 tonight at Bishop Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Kiowa with the Rev. Don Russell and the Rev. Dennis Piearcy officiating. Burial will be at Kiowa Cemetery under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service of McAlester.

Born Dec. 30, 1913, in Chickasha, she was the daughter of Charley and Dicy Herring Wright. She moved from Chickasha to Grayson County, Texas and married William Perry Sartor on Jan. 6, 1930, in Durant. She was a mother and homemaker.

In 1948 they moved to Pittsburg County in the Ashland area. She worked at Ashland School cafeteria for several years. She then worked at Elsing Sewing Manufacturing until her retirement. They moved to Kiowa in 1976.

She enjoyed quilting, canning and cooking for her family.

She was a member of First Baptist Church of McAlester.

Survivors include five sons and daughters-in-law, R.W. and Jeanine Sartor, of Wardville, Lee and Barbara Sartor, of Kiowa, Wally and Betty Sartor, of Kiowa, Wayne and Maclyn Sartor, Allen, Texas, and Dub and Sharon Sartor, of Ashland.

Also, five daughters and sons-in-law, Naomi and Dale Davis, of El Reno, Joyce and Wayne Sexton, of Kiowa, Willie Dell and W.C. Derryberry, of McAlester, Dora and Sherman Nichols, of Kiowa, and Ronna Baldwin, of McAlester.

Also, sister-in-law, Zona Turner; brother-in-law, Andis Sartor; three special nieces, Suzan, Benita, and Denise.

And, 26 grandchildren, Rick Sartor, Jerry Davis, Karen Carter, Vicki Clonch, Lee Ann Sartor, Dustin Sartor, Sharilyn Taylor, Stephen Nichols, Kim Armstrong, Lawanda Hicks, Jimmy Davis, Mike Sexton, Donna Slaughter, Julie Bosler, Shane Sartor, Roger Sartor, Stephanie Bearden, Kristie Daniel, Devonda Sartor, Shouna Olsen, Greg Sexton, Debbie Harmon, Lorie Mirth, Kerry Manning, Suzan Chandler, and Kevin Newberry; 54 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a grandson, Rodney Sexton; two sons-in-law, Jerry Newberry, and Oliver Baldwin; three brothers, Obert, Lee, and Ben Collins, and a sister, Beatrice Noble.
