Norma Ann Weeks

Norma Ann Weeks, 73, of McAlester, died Friday, June 26, 2009, at a local nursing home.

The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 Monday evening at Bishop’s.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Assembly of God Church with Brother Rich McAnally officiating and the Rev. Jerry Burnside assisting. Burial will be at Indianola Cemetery under direction of Bishop Funeral Service.

Born Aug. 23, 1935, in Indianola, to Walter Ray and Hassah Nancy Brisendine Weeks, she attended school and graduated from Indianola High School in the class of 1955. She moved to California and returned several times before returning in 1974. She then became a bus driver for Crowder School and also took care of foster children.

She enjoyed cooking and canning and gathering things to give away. She enjoyed having get togethers with friends and family. She was of the Pentecostal faith.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Carla and David Rogers, of Canadian Shores; two sons and daughters-in-law, Wesley and Karen Harness, of McAlester, Robert and Reva Cummins, of Bugtussle; grandchildren, Jason VanMeter and his wife, Rachel, Jordon Bensaoud, Jerome Cummins, Jessica Cummins, Erica Cummins, Carmen Cummins, Nicholas Harness, Havyn Harness.

And, two great-grandchildren, Kaylie Bonham, Bailey Cummins; numerous nieces and nephews, family, friends, and a brother and sister-in-law, Walter and Zenna Weeks, of Muskogee.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Hassah Weeks; three sisters, Melba Vanlandingham, Margie Barber and Ima Jean Lay and her husband, Willard, and a brother, Glen Weeks.

Pallbearers include Jason VanMeter, Jerome Cummins, Nicholas Harness, Chuck Kirkpatrick, Damon Thompson and Duane Matthews.

Honorary pallbearers include Michael Vanlandingham, J.R. Lay, Larry Leak, Tommy Scott and Bailey Cummins.
