Lena Mae Peppers
Lena Mae Peppers, 97, of McAlester, died Tuesday, June 16, 2009, in McAlester.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at McAlester First Church of the Nazarene, 700 W. Adams, with the Rev. J.T. Carnell and the Rev. Clifford Joines officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, McAlester, under the direction of Chaney-Harkins Funeral Home of McAlester.
Pallbearers include Larry Barnett, Mike Barnett, Jeff Ranallo, Colby Barnett, Chad Barnett and Jordon Barnett.
Honorary pallbearers include Clint Barnett and Austin Barnett.
Born April 27, 1912, in Kiowa, to William and Lydia (Harmon) Derryberry, she married Jessie Leonard Peppers on June 17, 1939, in McAlester. She worked as a seamstress for Seamprufe and Komar for almost 40 years retiring in 1986. She was a member of the Komar 20 year Club. She was an active member of the First Church of the Nazarene where she taught Sunday school. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and spending time with her family.
Survivors include a son, Morris Wade and wife,, Ann of Krebs; daughter, Barbara Hayes and husband, Preston, of McAlester; stepdaughter, Delores Loving and husband, Tommy, of Republic, Mo.; grandchildren, Larry Barnett, Mike Barnett and wife, Jessica, of Vancouver, Wash., Sherry Ranallo and husband, Jeff, of McAlester, Gary Loving and wife, Becky ,of Shawnee, Paul Loving and wife, Wilma, of Owasso, Becky Fenton and husband, David, of Republic, Mo.
And, 14 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Bobbye Andrews and husband, Daniel, of Midwest City, Martha Jo Johnston, of Salina, Kan., Mildred Thompson, of Norman, and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Lydia Derryberry; her husband, Jessie Leonard Peppers; grandson, Shannon Jay Wade; twin great-granddaughters, Sarah and Melinda Ranallo; seven brothers, and one sister.
