Ovie Cathey
Ovie Cathey, 75, of Gowen, died Friday, May 29, 2009, at his home.
Graveside services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Damon Cemetery with the Rev. Bob Davidson officiating. Burial will be at Damon Cemetery in the Damon Valley community. Arrangements are under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of Hartshorne.
Honorary pallbearers include Bill James, Bob Anderson, Tom Anderson, Jim Strange, and all of his coffee drinking friends and hunting buddies.
Born Dec. 21, 1933, at Wilburton, to William Wyatt and Lillian (Maxwell) Cathey, he served in the U.S. Army and married Bonnie Harris on June 1, 1954, in Bakersfield, Calif. He enjoyed hunting, gardening and visiting with friends.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Cathey, of the home; one son, David Cathey, of Istanbul, Turkey; one daughter and son-in-law, Kelli and Kerry Johnston, of Wilburton; two grandchildren and a spouse, Amy and Levi Medders, Robert Johnston.
And, two great-grandchildren, Lea and Wyatt Medders; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Edward and Nadine Cathey, of Stigler, Bob and Billie Cathey, of Hartshorne, Johnny and Barbara Cathey, of Shawnee, and one sister, Billie Wright, of Choctaw.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Debra Marie Cathey; one brother; two sisters, and a brother-in-law, Ken Wright.
