James Loye Houston

James Loye Houston, 59, of McAlester, died Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at his home.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Damon Valley Cemetery with Dick Stites officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service of McAlester.
Born March 20, 1949, in Wilburton, he was the son of Aaron Loye and Bernice Reed Houston. He attended and graduated from Clinton High School in the Class of 1967.
He then served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He received an honorable discharge at the rank of lance corporal.
He then worked for the Oklahoma State Penitentiary as a corrections officer for numerous years until his retirement.
He was of the Christian faith and enjoyed hunting, fishing, metal detecting, and home repair.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, James and Kelly DeGrado, Keller, Texas; two daughters and sons-in-law, Laura and Bill Morrison, Flower Mound, Texas, and Melissa and Jason Bartley, Lewisville, Texas; his mother, Bernice Sadler, of the home.
Also, a brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Rita Houston, of Oklahoma City; nine grandchildren, Nathan, Ethan and Dylan DeGrado, Keller, Texas, Billy, Channing, and Samantha Morrison, Flower Mound, Texas, and Austin, Jordan and Kayla Bartley, Lewisville, Texas, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Aaron Loye Houston, in 1982, and a sister, Phyllis Victoria Jordan, in 1985.
