Evelyn ‘Jane’ Kelton
Evelyn “Jane” Kelton, 83, of McAlester, died Wednesday, March 18, 2009, at McAlester Regional Health Center.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Dog Creek Cemetery in LeFlore County with the Rev. Jim Cook officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Chaney-Harkins Funeral Home of McAlester.
Born June 8, 1925, in Dog Creek Community, LeFlore County, she was the daughter of R. J. and Isabel (Campbell) Christopher. She grew up in the area and attended Red Oak Public Schools.
She was a member of the Indian Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening and quilting.
Survivors include her daughters, Norma Easley and husband, John, of Poteau, Marie Wilks and husband, Bob, of Wilburton, and Janice Baker and husband, Carl, of Pittsburg.
Also, brother, Ken Christopher, Petersburg, Va.; sister, Edna Newsom, of McCurtain; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by a son, Leo Bench; brothers, Bryce Christopher and Loren Christopher; sister, Ida Bland; grandchildren, Johnny Easley, Dan Baker and Cindy Whitten, and great-grandson, Kenny Dennis.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
Honorary pallbearer will be Durad Goldsbourgh.
