Bonnita and Greg Ford of McAlester are announcing the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Megan Jean Ford of Ada to John David Sherbert, also of Ada.

She is the granddaughter of the late Bascom and Norma (Nave) Lewis and Lucille Ford of McAlester, and the late Tom Ford.

He is the son of Joe and Candace Sherbert of Ada, and the grandson of Deene Sherbert of Ada, and Earl and Mary Smith of Houston.

A 2003 graduate of Indianola High School, the bride to be is a 2007 graduate of East Central University in Ada, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology.

She is currently a Vocational Site Manager at Big Five in Ada.

The prospective groom is a 2005 graduate of Ada High School.

He is a Specialist in the Oklahoma Army National Guard, attached to Charlie Company 1/180th Infantry. He has been in the military for three years and he has served one tour in Afghanistan.

He is currently on Active Duty Special Work at the Ada Armory.

The couple will exchange vows Sept. 26 at Grand Avenue Methodist Church. The Rev. Charles Ness will officiate.
