Piano students head for state

Several McAlester piano students have qualified for the Oklahoma Music Teachers Association State Achievement Audition.

Each received a superior rating on a memorized solo. They include Tyler McCoy, Nicholas Santine, Joshua Lane, Jesse Lane, Dru Pilgrim, Casey House, Alana Wynn, Bobby Doyle, Brittany Condit, Andrew Zdeb, Colin O’Brien, Kayly Bryan, Audrey Phipps, Mary Rauniker, Julia Wynn, Ryli Bland, Eli Bland, Ian Boyd, Aaron Phipps, Joseph Robinson, Tom Harrison, John Harrison, Sydney Staggs, Angela Marshall, Carmen Wiley and Felicia Doyle.

Receiving special recognition for theory were Casey House with a score of 100, and Ryli Bland, Angela Marshall, Dru Pilgrim, Joshua Lane, Jesse Lane, Nicholas Santine, Colin O’Brien, Tyler McCoy and Andrew Zdeb, with scores of 90 to 99.

The judge for the local audition was Dr. Robert McFadden, Durant, with Debbie Brown and Mary Spyres entering students.

The state audition is set for May 19-20 at the University of Oklahoma, Norman.
