Anna Fassino, 99, died Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, at Alterra Sterling House in Bethany, where she had been in the care of her sister for 13 years.
Mass of Christian burial was at 10 a.m. today at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Oklahoma City. Graveside services were at 3 p.m. today at Mount Calvary Cemetery in McAlester. Arrangements were under the direction of Smith & Kernke of Oklahoma City.
Born in Krebs, she was the daughter of Italian immigrants, Toni and Giovanna Blua. She grew up in Coalgate with her sisters.
She taught fifth grade in Coalgate after college until marrying Charles Fassino in 1936. They lived in McAlester for 41 years, where her husband ran a successful insurance business until he preceded her in death in 1977.
She was an active member of St. John’s Catholic Church in McAlester.
She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, fishing and gardening.
Survivors include her sister, Mary, and a nephew, Tony.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles; sister, Martina, and brother-in-law, Arthur.
