Betty Blevins, 79, of McAlester

McALESTER —

Betty Blevins, 79, of McAlester, died Sunday, Dec. 26, 2010, at Integris Hospice House in Oklahoma City.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Brumley-Mills Chapel with the Rev. Walter Kuhlman officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of McAlester.

Born Dec. 31, 1930, in Yanush, she was the daughter of Tom and Maggie Mangrum. She grew up in the Yanush and Buffalo Valley area. She worked as a nurse’s aid at Ranchwood Nursing Home in Wilburton. She married Charles Blevins on July 6, 1973, in Stigler, and she continued to work with patients at Ranchwood and at Blevins Nursing and Retirement Center in McAlester.

She took special pleasure in spending time with her grandson and going to horse shows with her great-granddaughter. She was a member of Lighthouse of Prayer Church near Arpelar.

Survivors include her husband, Charles Blevins, of the home; one daughter, Judy Hamilton, of Tecumseh; one son and daughter-in-law, Darrell and Freda Kirkes, of Clayton; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and one sister, Zells (Polly) Hutson, Mineral Springs, Ark.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Glenn Kirkes.

Pallbearers will be Ken Adkins, Dusty Kirkes, Tony Baker, Andrew Massey, Walter Blevins, Darron Allspaugh and Derrick Allspaugh.

Thelma Lee Brady

Thelma Lee Brady, 80, of Eufaula, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at First Free Will Baptist Church. Burial will be at Mellette Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Hunn & Black Funeral Home of Eufaula.
