McALESTER — Mary (Russell) Crawford, 58, of Cabiness,  died Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at her home.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bishop Chapel of Memories with Jack Crawford officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service of McAlester.

Born June 28, 1955, in Norwalk, Conn., she was the daughter of John Raymond and Marie Paula Sperry Russell. She graduated from Westfield High School in Massachusetts.

She later moved to Tulsa to attend Rhema Bible Training Center. She earned her associate degree and decided to remain in Oklahoma.

She began visiting with inmates at Oklahoma State Penitentiary in the Rhema Bible Center Prison Ministry. After ministering at the prison, the team would attend church in Krebs. Eventually she became a member of that church and moved from Tulsa to McAlester.

She later met Lloyd Lee Crawford and they were married Feb. 3, 2003, in Fort Smith, Ark. They were active members of Haywood Baptist Church, where they enjoyed singing and playing guitar in the Music Ministry. He preceded her in death on Oct. 24, 2010.

After her husband preceded her in death, she began working for The Monument Place Crawford Granite Works. She worked as the graphics designer and office manager.

She enjoyed gardening, baling hay alongside her husband and preparing “pioneer meals” for friends and family.

Survivors include her parents, John and Marie Russell, of Tannehill; brothers and sister, John Russell and wife, Wanpen, Bellevue, Neb., Ann Morley, Fort Worth, Texas, Peter Russell, of Tannehill, and Michael Russell, Albany, N.Y.; her godmother, Helen Ward Mannix, Wilton, Conn., and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
