Calvin Pitts ‘C.P.’ Neill

McALESTER — Calvin Pitts “C.P.” Neill, 86, of Canadian, died Sunday, May 26, 2013, at his home.

A funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at the Canadian First Baptist Church with Reverend Rodney Karch officiating. Burial will follow at the Masonic Cemetery under the direction of Hunn, Black & Merritt Funeral Home & Crematory of Eufaula. Viewing will be from noon until 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

He was born on Sept. 11, 1926, in Canadian, the son of Vess H. and Callie Lou (Jenks) Neill. He attended Canadian Public Schools. He was a veteran of World War II, serving as a MP in the Philippines. On May 13, 1948, he married Oleta LeJoyce Lusk in McAlester. C.P. was a member of the Pittsburg County Bluegrass Boys. He served on the Canadian School board for 21 years. He was a member of the Canadian Masonic Lodge No. 22 and completed his 32nd Degree Mason. He was a member of the Canadian First Baptist Church. He enjoyed farming and was a model train enthusiast.

Survivors include his wife, LeJoyce Neill, of the home; his sons, Miles and Virginia Neill, of Nashville, Indiana; Homer and Debbie Neill of Canadian, and Vess and Glenda Neill, also of Canadian; his daughter, Louann and Lee Dugan, of Canadian; his grandchildren, Matt Neill, Bobby Neill, Nathan Neill, Phillip Neill, Miles Neill, Derek Hearod, Devon Hearod, James Neill, Sean Neill; his great grandchildren, Keely Helterbrand, Jacob Neill, Brilee Neill, Makalyn Neill, Blayden Neill, Maggi Neill, Ava Neill, Destiney Neill and Tristan Neill; his sister Vera and Leroy Northcutt, of Canadian, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Callie and Vess Neill, and niece, Juanita Lou Northcutt, and a nephew, Joel “Peanut” Neill Northcutt.

Pallbearers will be Nathan Neill, Matt Neill, Bobby Neill, Phillip Neill, James Neill, and Eldon Northcutt.  Honorary pallbearers will be Terry Allen, Miles Neill, Sean Neill, Brent Northcutt, Ronald Gray, Rocky Perdum, Archie Freeman, David Clifton, Bill Murdaugh, Scott Scharbach, David Duke, and Dusty Murdaugh
