Lewis Daxton McEwen

McALESTER — Lewis Daxton McEwen, infant son of Luke and Lind-say (Verner) McEwen, of McAlester, Oklahoma, died Saturday, February 22, 2014, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

The family will receive visitors from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 26, 2014.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 27, 2014 at Blue Cemetery with Mr. Jerry Dickinson officiating.

Service arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service.  

Lewis was born December 29, 2013, at McAlester Regional Medical Center at 9:02 am.

Tho Lewis’ stay here with us on Earth was much too brief, we are so very blessed for the time we had with him. So blessed that God chose us to loan this baby child. A child to have, a child to hold, a child to love. This child to carry deep within our hearts and throughout life’s journey. Until we once again meet up with him in Heaven to hold for all eternity.

Survivors include parents, Luke and Lindsay (Verner) McEwen, of McAlester, Oklahoma; sisters, Kaydence McEwen, of McAlester, Oklahoma, and Paytin McEwen, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Mater-nal Grandparents, Steve and Nancy Verner, of McAlester, Oklahoma, and Guy and Ashley England, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Paternal Grandparents, Lynda McEwen, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Maternal Great-Grandparents, Bill and Christine Verner, of McAlester, Oklahoma, Linda Savage, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and John and Ruth LaFevers, of Longtown, Oklahoma; Aunts and Uncles, Jordan Verner, of Durant, Oklahoma, Caleb Verner, Kendal Verner, Shane Verner, Woodrow Verner, and Briana Cormier, All of McAlester, Oklahoma; Cousins, Keelee Kemp, and Peyton Kemp, Both of Durant, Oklahoma; Numerous great-aunts, great-uncles, second cousins, and a host of other family.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, L.D. McEwen.

Active pallbearers will be Caleb Verner and Mason Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be Andre Linzie, Hayden Greene and Brandon Ury.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the March of Dimes.
