Zena Evelyn “Big Momma” Rankin Luman, 91, died Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, in McAlester.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Assembly of God Church in Antlers with Virgie Martin officiating. Burial will be at Butler’s Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Burkhart Funeral Service of Antlers.
Born Dec. 26, 1922, in Sims, Ark., she was the daughter of Loren “Fat” and Virgie (Carter) Rankin. She was a preacher’s wife and homemaker.
She enjoyed singing, playing the piano, cooking and
crocheting. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and enjoyed singing to them.
She was a Christian and was devoted to her family.
She is survived by a daughter, Yvonne Jones, and husband, Jimmy, of Stroud; son, Sonny Luman and wife, Joyce, of Nashoba; son, Larry Luman and wife, Janie, of Arpelar; son, Timothy Luman and wife, Janice, of Harrah; daughter-in-law, Mary Luman, of McAlester; daughter-in-law, Sammy Blankenship, of Nashoba; grandchildren, Doug Jones, of Minnesota, Yvetta Harper and husband, Steve, of Stroud, Bryan Luman and wife, Denise, of Nashoba, Brad Luman, of Nashoba, Larry Luman Jr. and wife, Paula, of Pittsburg, Bessie McIntyre and husband, Heath, of Wardville, Lacie Brewer, of McAlester, Andie Hall, of Wardville, Amanda Luman, of Harrah, Ashley Aebischer and husband, Cody, of Harrah, and Michelle Shoemake, of Talihina; 21 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren, and numerous other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Loren and Virgie Rankin; her husband, Charles Douglas Luman, and her sister, Norma Jean Woods.
Pallbearers will be Larry Luman Jr., Dillon Luman, Shawn Luman, Jeremiah Harper and Jimmy Jones.
