McALESTER — Goldie May Johnston, 74, of Krebs, died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014, at her home.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Bishop Chapel of Memories with Dr. Tim Russell officiating. Burial will be at Bache-Red Oak Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service of McAlester.

Born Nov. 29, 1939, in Akron, Ohio, she was the daughter of Lewis Charles and Alberta Irene (Archer) Haessly. She attended school in Paris, Ohio and graduated from Canton Actual Business College.

She served in the United States Army, Women’s Army Corps from 1958 to 1959. She was stationed at Fort Richie, Md., where she worked as a switchboard operator.

She graduated from Kiamichi Area Vo-Tech School of Practical Nursing in 1989. She worked as an LPN for the Van Buren House in McAlester and Narconon in housekeeping.

She was a member of First Baptist Church of McAlester.

Survivors include her children, Diane Squires, of Deerlake, Pa., Joetta Talafous, of Canal Fulton, Ohio, Roger Johnston, of Krebs, and Lisa Willies, of Canton, Ohio.

Also, grandchildren, Haessly Nachman, Albert Tea, Archer Atkins, Niccole Hunt, Dahl-ie Schneck, Rachel Tea and Kameri Tea, and a brother, Raymond Haessly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Alberta Haessly, and a brother, Gilbert Haessly.

Pallbearers will be Max Jones, Larry Jones, Don Sheaffer, Robert Way, Alex Bailey and Jeff Holden.

Honorary pallbearer will be Keith Comley.
