The Hoyt Community lost a well-known and much-loved member this week. Theron Doyle “Flub” Denny, of Hoyt, Oklahoma, passed from this life on the afternoon of May 25, 2013, in Stigler, Oklahoma. He was 79-years-old. He was born to Harden John Denny and Gertrude Nell (Horn) Denny near Brooken, Oklahoma and was known affectionately, as Flub, his entire life.
Flub was a farmer and rancher who lived most of his adult life and raised his family near Hoyt. He was disabled at an early age and became an available resource to many. He was “Uncle Flub” to an entire community, regardless of relation. He solved the problems of the world over coffee at his kitchen table — at least the problems of those in his world.
He loved his tractors and working in his garden and happily shared anything he had. He was most proud of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and lived a very full life through each of them.
Flub was preceded in death by his parents, along with four brothers, Thomas Denny, Dale Denny, Carl Denny and Ed Denny; and two sisters, Ruby Cook and Darlene Fielding.
Doyle is survived by his wife, Shirley Denny, of the home; four children, Debra Anthony and husband, Wayne, of Killeen, Texas; Dan Denny and wife, Pam, of Hartshorne; Doyle Wayne Denny and wife, Angie, of Roseville, Calif.; Diana Eldridge and husband, Chris, of Bentonville, Ark.; eight grandchildren, Ronny Anthony, Amy Clark, Bryan Denny, Melody Slocum, Bailey Denny, Lincoln Denny, Colton Eldridge and Laureen Eldridge, and six great-grandchildren, Kelsey Anthony, Kassidy Anthony, Kennedy Anthony, Katie Clark, Kaleb Clark and Adriana Denny, and a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
He has six surviving siblings. They include two sisters, Ailene McDuff, of Mangum, Okla.; Karen and husband, Bob Cook, of Brooken Okla.; and four brothers, Cotton Denny, of Gary, Ind., C.J. Denny and wife, Alice, of Quinton, Okla.; Harley Denny and wife, Nowassia, of Sandridge, Okla. and Ronny Denny and wife, Cathy, of Quinton, Okla.
Services were to be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, at the Sandridge Pentecostal Church located two miles east of Enterprise on Highway No. 9. The service will be officiated by the church pastor, Brian Bryant. Burial will immediately follow in Brooken Cemetery,
Family visitation was set for from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. Monday at Mallory-Martin Funeral Home in Stigler.
