The Kilihoti Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution met Oct. 19 at Angel’s Diner with Jennifer Tarrant acting as regent and Sandra Goodspeed as chaplain.
Tarrant and Goodspeed installed new members Rhonda Carpenter and Karen Clark, both of Wilburton, and Norma Gist stood in for her daughter, Cathy Gist.
Nancy Downing presented a program about the life of Judith Sargent Murray who was born in 1751, a time when women weren’t allowed many freedoms. Murray wrote and published many articles promoting the abilities of women in a male-dominated society, and her publications strongly suggested that women were capable of being more than a wife, mother and homemaker.
Kilihoti will meet Nov. 9 at 11 a.m. at Angel’s Diner with Tammy Hinton presenting a program, “Our Veterans.”
The meeting is open to members and those interested in becoming a member.
