McALESTER —  

Two Wilburton High School seniors were recognized as Students of the Month for October by members of the Wilburton Kiwanis Club. The students were special guests during the club’s Wednesday, October 24 meeting held in the Student Life Center on the campus of Eastern Oklahoma State College. Pictured from left are Deontaie Evans and Kristyn Adams. Adams is the daughter of Patty Adams and the granddaughter of Sue Chester of Wilburton. She attends Wilburton High School where she is a member of the Wilburton FFA chapter, student council and service learning. She currently serves as senior class president, FFA vice-president and is a member of the livestock judging team. She was selected as a delegate to Oklahoma Girl’s State, named a star chapter member in FFA and was the top salesperson in FFA. She has also won numerous awards exhibiting lambs and swine at regional and state livestock competitions. Adams enjoys exhibiting livestock, judging livestock and spending time with her family and friends. She plans to attend Eastern Oklahoma State College and then transfer to Oklahoma State University–Tulsa to major in x-ray technology specializing in sonography. Deontaie Evans is the grandson of Shirley and Marlon Evans. He attends Wilburton High School where he has participated in speech. He is also a recipient of the American Legion school award. Evans enjoys playing basketball, watching television, sleeping, eating, listening to music, hanging out with his friends and making people laugh. He plans to either join the U. S. Marine Corps or attend law school. He would eventually like to become an FBI agent and be successful.
