Kim Pitner won a blue ribbon at the Tulsa Carving Show recently. Pitner became a member of the McAlester Area Woodcarver Club in 1991 and was elected this year as the club’s first lady president. She is the wife of Cliff Pitner who is also a carver and instructor. She has attended a variety of wood carving shows and seminars over the past 20 years. She especially enjoys animal carvings, stylized carving and chip carving. She has entered several competitions and has taken a blue ribbon for her crappie carving at the Tulsa Area Carving Show and Sale. She attributes her achievement to the support and encouragement of her husband. As president, Kim is excited and looking forward to building the club’s membership. She encourages interested parties to visit the club during their bimonthly meetings. MAWC meets on the first and third Tuesdays at 7:00 p.m. at the Kiamichi Technology Center.
