Midweek Update: Demons and Miners win tourneys

McALESTER — Local baseball teams competed in tournaments everywhere from Crowder to Weleetka to Claremore, and local slowpitch teams mainly played each other in preparation for Tuesday’s Pitt 8 Tournament in McAlester.

The Cougars beat Haileyville 14-1 in the Pitt 8 consolation championship March 25, then beat Haileyville again 10-9 on Saturday before losing to Kiowa 13-3 on Monday. Canadian played Savanna on Tuesday and next plays in the Calvin Tournament starting Thursday.

The Lady Cougars lost 6-5 to Eufaula on Thursday. They played in the Pitt 8 Tournament on Tuesday and next play in the Crowder Tournament starting Thursday.


The Demons beat Stuart 9-8 in the Pitt 8 championship March 25, then finished third in the Crowder Invitational. They beat Panama 6-4 on Thursday, lost to Eufaula 0-2 in the semifinals on Friday then beat Stigler 6-3 in the third-place game on Saturday.

Crowder lost 10-5 to Antlers on Monday. The Demons were scheduled to play Pittsburg on Tuesday and next play Moss in the Stuart Tournament on Thursday.

The Demonettes swept a March 25 three-way, beating Haileyville 8-3 and Pittsburg 4-3. They then got swept in Thursday’s three-way, losing 4-0 to Stigler and 3-2 to Wilburton.

The Demonettes also went 0-2 Monday, losing 13-1 to Stuart and 14-0 to Kiowa. Crowder played in the Pitt 8 Tournament on Tuesday and next plays in the Crowder Tournament on Thursday.


The Warriors lost 14-1 to Canadian in the Pitt 8 consolation championship March 25, then lost 11-2 to Wetumka on the same day. Haileyville lost 13-3 to Stringtown on Friday, then lost 10-9 to Canadian on Saturday.

The Warriors next play in the Calvin Tournament starting Thursday.

The Lady Warriors got swept in a March 25 three-way, losing 5-3 to Pittsburg and 8-3 to Crowder. Haileyville then lost 7-4 to Indianola on Thursday.

Haileyville played in the Pitt 8 Tournament on Tuesday and next plays in the Crowder Tournament starting Thursday.
