Postseason pairings announced for four sports

McALESTER — The Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association has released postseason pairings for slowpitch softball, Class B through 4A baseball, golf and Class 5A tennis. Golf, slowpitch and Class A and B baseball tournaments start this week, while tennis regionals and larger-school baseball district tournaments won’t begin until May.

Girls’ golf regional qualifiers start Tuesday. In Class 2A, Haileyville, Pittsburg, Quinton and Savanna will all be at Atoka for their qualifier.

With 16 total teams, Atoka will be the largest Class 2A qualifier.

McAlester’s girls’ team will host a Class 5A Regional on April 29 at the McAlester Country Club. Visiting teams include Claremore, Durant, Grove, Tulsa-Memorial and Shawnee, with 15 total teams expected to compete.

Boys’ golf qualifiers start April 28. Canadian, Haileyville, Pittsburg, Quinton and Savanna will all be at Idabel, which will host 16 teams in the smallest Class 2A qualifier.

McAlester’s boys’ team will host a Class 5A Regional on May 5. Sixteen total teams are expected, including Ardmore, Bishop Kelley, Tulsa Hale, Pryor and Skiatook.

In qualifiers, the top six teams advance to Regionals, as do the top six individual golfers from non-advancing schools. At Regionals, the top three teams advance to State, as do the top four individuals overall and the next three individuals from non-advancing schools.

In Class 4A slowpitch, Hartshorne will host the District 7 Tournament, squaring off against Konawa and Talihina. Wilburton will host the District 10 Tournament, where it’ll face Silo and Panama.

In Class 3A, Canadian will head to Depew for a two-team District 12 Tournament. Crowder will host Quinton and Keota in a three-team District 13 Tournament.

In Class 2A, Stuart will be at Webbers Falls for the District 14 Tournament, which also features Oaks and Watts. Kiowa will be at Soper for the District 16 Tournament, which also includes Stringtown and Haileyville.
