MPS in session Monday
McAlester Public Schools are to be in session Monday, according to MPS spokesperson Debbie Watkins.
She said originally the day was planned to be a school holiday, but will nowe serve as a snow make up day.

McAlester Public Schools will be in session Tuesday (Feb. 4) with a lenient tardy policy, according to Superintendent Marsha Gore.
She said the lenient tardy is to give everyone plenty of time to drive safely and use caution.

Weather related accidents slow traffic in Pittsburg County
McAlester/Pittsburg County Office of Emergency Management Director Kevin Enloe said there have been multiple weather related vehicle accidents in the area that are slowing traffic and keeping salt trucks from being able to salt roads. He said motorists should not to drive unless it is a necessity or an emergency.
County weather divided
Kevin Enloe, director of the McAlester/Pittsburg County Office of Emergency Management, said Pittsburg County's weather is divided by a snow line that is hitting the northern portion of the county and by ice that is expected to continue to fall in the southern portion.
UPDATE: Shots at OU are possibly a false alarm
Authorities have evacuated Gould Hall following reports of gunfire, however, reports from the scene indicate the incident may have been a false alarm.
