YUKON — The Kiowa Cowboys trailed for just 25 seconds Thursday, beating the top-ranked Fort Cobb-Broxton Mustangs in the state quarter-finals in Yukon, 56-46.
With the win, the Cowboys advanced to their first state semifinal in team history. The Mustangs lost for just the first time all season.
Tristian McMath led the Cowboys with 20 points, and Caden Shores scored 10. The two went a combined 10-for-15 from the foul line in the fourth quarter, preventing the Mustangs from overcoming a lead the Cowboys took for good on a layup by McMath with 1:40 left in the third quarter.
