A call for a house fire rang into the Krebs Fire Department at approximately 8:40 Saturday morning, Krebs Fire Chief Chuck Nelms said.
From about a mile away, black billowing smoke could be seen.
Nelms said the fire occurred at Northwest Eighth Street, just north of Deerinwater Field.
He said the home, which was inhabited at the time of the fire, will probably be a complete loss.
No one was home when Krebs, McAlester and Alderson fire departments arrived to the scene of the fire, according to the Krebs fire chief.
Nelms said firefighters have not determined where the fire started, but it appeared it could have started in either a bedroom or a carport that share a wall.
“That is why we have called in the fire marshal,” Nelms said. The marshal is expected to further investigate the blaze to determine its cause.
Nelms said approximately 15 firefighters from Krebs, McAlester and Alderson responded to the fire, with two fire trucks coming from Krebs, one from McAlester and one from Alderson.
