OSSAA postpones weekend football playoffs

McALESTER — A press release from the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association has announced that all football playoff games this weekend, including McAlester's 5A state championship game that was to be played Friday against Guthrie, has been postponed due to inclement weather.

McAlester will now play Saturday, Dec. 14, at Boone Pickens Stadium at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater at 7 p.m.

Hartshorne's Class 2A semifinal, which was to be played Saturday, will now take place Friday, Dec. 13, at East Central University in Ada. McAlester will also host a 2A semifinal between Vian and Davis on Friday, Dec. 13, at 7 p.m, at Hook Eales Stadium.

Full rescheduled OSSAA football playoff schedule:

Thursday, Dec. 12:

6A Final                Jenks vs. Union at Chapman Stadium (Tulsa University), 7 p.m.

Friday, Dec. 13:

3A Semifinal       Blanchard vs. Plainview at Moore High School, 7 p.m.

3A Semifinal       Seminole vs. Kingfisher at Choctaw High School, 7 p.m.

2A Semifinal       Vian vs. Davis at McAlester High School, 7 p.m.

2A Semifinal       Millwood vs. Hartshorne at East Central University, Ada, 7 p.m.

A Semifinal         Talihina vs. Ringling at Southeastern Oklahoma State University, Durant, 7 p.m.

A Semifinal         Hollis vs. Boone-Apache at Cache High School, 7 p.m.

Saturday, Dec. 14:

4A Final                Anadarko vs. Poteau at Boone Pickens Stadium, Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, 1 p.m.

B Final                   Laverne vs. Pond Creek-Hunter at Southwestern Oklahoma State, Weatherford, 1 p.m.

C Final                   Tipton vs. Cherokee at Southwestern Oklahoma State University, Weatherford, 7  p.m.

5A Final                Guthrie vs. McAlester at Boone Pickens Stadium, Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, 7 p.m.

    Athree vehicle accident closed the of intersection Carl Albert Parkway and Sixth Street about 2 p.m. on Friday, police say.

    The accident closed the intersection for less than an hour.

    The jaws of life were used to remove one person who was hospitalized later reported in stable condition, according the McAlester police. Two others were treated at the scene and released.
