A burning big rig truck blocked southbound lanes of U.S. Highway 69 between Savanna and Kiowa just before noon Friday.
Firemen on scene were squelching the flames while local police re-routed southbound traffic into one of the two northbound lanes so vehicles could continue traveling south.
The accident occurred near National Road, said Pittsburg County Undersheriff Richard Bedford. The truck is completely blocking southbound lanes and is fully engulfed in flames, he told the News-Capital on Friday just before noon.
A representative from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol - Troop D - McAlester Detachment said she had no information to release regarding the accident when this article was prepared for publication.
