Escapee found west of McAlester near Arpelar, escorted back to JBCC

McALESTER — Undersheriff Richard Bedford said a reporting person, who said they were headed west on U.S. Highway 270 towards Arpelar, called the sheriffs office at 8:02 p.m. saying they saw what looked like an inmate wearing his grey uniform turned inside out.

Bedford said at that time a sheriff's deputy was to dispatched to the area.

Bedford said the deputy asked dispatch to contact Jackie Brannon Correctional Center.

According to Bedford, the sheriffs deputy arrived on the scene at 8:05 p.m. and found the man the caller had reported.

Bedford said dispatch to ran the possible inmate by name and date of birth which came back no return.

Bedford said JBCC officers pulled up and identified the man as a missing inmate. At that time JBCC escorted the escapee back to their facility.
