A Kingfisher man is dead after a big rig accident on Highway 9

McALESTER — A Kingfisher man is dead after a big rig collided with a vehicle on State Highway 9, officials say.

The accident occurred one mile east of Lake Drive on State Highway 9 on Tuesday about 1:30 p.m. according to a report by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Donovan Boutwell, 43, of Kingfisher was pronounced dead from a head injury at Epic Medical Center where transported from the scene of the accident, the report states

 Boutwell was driving a 2006 four-door Ford west bound on State Highway 9 when he made a left hand turn and was struck by a 2011 Freightliner driven by Kenneth Ray Timmons Jr., 42, of Houston, Texas, according to the report.

 Timmons truck struck Boutwell’s vehicle as he was attempting to overtake (Boutwell’s vehicle), the report states.

Timmons was not injured.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation, according to the OHP.

The drivers were both wearing seatbelts.
