McALESTER — McAlester police and firemen worked to free a man from wreckage Wednesday afternoon after a semi-truck and pickup truck collided.

McAlester Det. Capt. Gary Wansick said the McAlester police were called to the scene of the accident at the intersection of A Street and Carl Albert Parkway at 2:04 p.m. by an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper who was on scene. “We responded with four police units, two fire engines and two ambulances,” Wansick said. “An ambulance transported the driver of the pickup truck to a local hospital at 2:52 p.m.”

Wansick was not able to release the name of the driver, but said he was awake and aware and had complaints of internal injuries as well as head and neck injuries. “I do not know at this time how long he was pinned in the vehicle,” Wansick said. “The driver of the semi was not transported” for medical attention,” Wansick said.
