After deaths, OSBI conducting crime scene investigation at Narconon Arrowhead

McALESTER — A crime scene investigation is under way at Narconon Arrowhead after the death of another young woman on Thursday.The facility is a non-profit drug and alcohol rehabilitation center in Canadian with ties to the church of Scientology, according to Gary Smith director of the facility.Stacy Dawn Murphy, 20, was found dead at the center and the investigatin is  expected to be completed soon according to a spokesperson for of the Oklahoma Bureau of Investigation.

“We are doing a crime scene investigation of this latest death at Narconon,” said Jessica Brown public relations officer for the OSBI. She said their investigation includes collecting evidence, crime scene and evidence photography and a crime scene schematic. She said the investigation should be completed in the next few days.

Stacy’s father said knowing there is an investigation isn’t enough.

“I want them to pursue criminal charges and I’m afraid that’s not going to happen,”

The known death toll at Narconon Arrowhead stands now stands at four.

Along with Stacy Murphy three other young people are known to have died while patients of the facility including Hillary Holten, 21, Gabriel Graves, 32, and Kaysie Dianne Werninck, 28.

Three of the people who died including Murphy, Graves and Holten were all found dead at the facility within the last year, Werninck died in 2009, according to court records.Brown said once the OSBI nvestigation is complete a report will be issued to the Pittsburg County Sheriffs department and from there a decision will be made to further the investigation with District 18 District Attorney.

Pittsburg County Sheriff Joel Kerns said he is working with the OSBI and awaiting the results a toxicology report which could take as much as six weeks, before going to the district attorney.

While the results are waiting to be known, Stacy’s father said he wants there to be a purpose for her death.

"I want to know her death wasn't in vain, that changes will be made,” Robert Murphy said.

"We sent her there to get better, not to die," he said.
