Melva Blancett

Melva Blancett, 85, of Mesa, Ariz., died Tuesday, March 2, 2010.

Memorial services will be at 12:30 p.m. Monday at Mount View Lutheran Church in Phoenix, AZ, 85044. Arrangements are under the direction of Arizona National Cremation Society.

She was born in McAlester. She was instrumental in organizing the Arizona branch of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) and the American Federation of TV and Radio Artists (AFTRA), and served on the National Boards of both organizations.

She has many photographs and memorabilia, and numerous favorable reviews and honors. Her resume lists stage, films, made for TV movies, radio and TV commercials, and voice-overs.

She married Lloyd Blancett and he preceded her in death in 1999.

Survivors include two sons, Lloyd Jr., Tucson, Ariz., and Jon, Chandler, Ariz.; three grandchildren, Jason and Heather, of California, and Chase, Tucson; one great-granddaughter, Emma, of California.

Also, two nieces, Sally, Reno, Nev., and Nancy, Chicago; nephew, Jeff, Black Eagle, Mont., and her lifelong best friend and cousin, Betty, of Oklahoma.
